Lorena received her BSc in Systems Engineering from Escuela Superior Politécnica de Chimborazo, Ecuador in 2009. After her bachelor studies, Lorena worked for Smartwork S.A. and Produbanco S.A. in Quito, Ecuador, where she was software developer and systems manager, respectively, until she joined University of Calabria as Ph.D student in 2013. In 2016, Lorena did her doctoral internship in the Computer Vision Research Group, at University of Amsterdam, Netherlands. In 2017, she obtained the Ph.D degree in Science and Technologies of Complex Systems from the University of Calabria, Italy. From 2017 to 2020, she worked as a Researcher-Lecturer at the School of Mathematical and Computational Sciences, University of Yachay Tech (Ecuador). From 2020, Lorena leads the WoMiS Club (a club to support women and men in STEM fields) at the International University of Ecuador (Ecuador).
Currently, she is a researcher at The Biorobotics Institute, Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna (Italy), and a Senior Researcher at SDAS Research Group. Lorena collaborates actively with the University of Calabria (Italy), the Sapienza Università di Roma (Italy), and the University Polytechnic
Lorena is a lecturer at the International University of Ecuador (UIDE). She has taught courses of: Artificial Intelligence application, Image Processing, Computer Graphics, Software Engineering and Networks and Distributed Systems.
Lorena works actively with Department of Computer Engineering, Modeling, Electronics and Systems of the University of Calabria (Italy), Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering of the Sapienza Università di Roma (Italy), and the Modeling, Simulation and Data Analysis (MSDA) Research Program from Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (Morocco).
